Sat. Sept 13 - Towing at 90 MPH

Saturday Sept. 13
Mary Here
This morning we left Salt Lake City to continue our journey southwest to Zion National Park, which we did with very little trouble.  We decided to stop at the Visitor's Center that is near Kolob Canyon.  We learned that the drive up Kolob Canyon was only five miles long so the decision was made to go.  We both hopped into our cars, started them and put them in gear.  Jim and I did that, Mike and Judy could not, because their gear shift was stuck in park.  I mean it would not move no matter what was tried.  So finally the towing service was called and while waiting Jim, Mike and myself decided to do the five mile drive.  Judy stayed with the car.  We were almost back when the tow truck arrived and hooked their car up.  We had to drive approximately 40 miles and those 40 miles were at a speed that was faster than I've ever gone.  The crazy man was driving between 80-90 mph the entire way....with Mike's car in tow.  Jim had a hard time keeping up.  The long and short of it is the car needs a new part.  The part will not be here until Tuesday, so we are in a holding pattern.  There is a slight chance it might be repaired by Monday so keep your fingers crossed.
But on the up side the five mile drive to Kolob Canyon was specular.  Here's a few pics and videos.

Video shows a much better view
Notice how small a car is compared to the mountain
 Yup we're still together

The roads are almost the same color as the mountains

Kolob is just gorgeous
